OBJECT WRITING / WHEN

OBJECT WRITING / WHEN
Paint your story with a ”when” a clear theme using a specific date, month, year, time, a season. Using your senses to describe what the ”when” of your choice make you feel or where it places you in a situation or emotion. Is it about waking up in the middle of the night and just looking up at the celling, getting lost into a thousand thoughts and emotions, trying to sleep but you just can’t fall asleep? Get into that state of mind of whatever object of ”when” you are working with. What can you tell about that specific day or time, season, month.

  • What can you tell about your chosen”when”?

  • What’s specific about it?

  • What’s happening during this time?

  • What can you see, hear, feel, touch, smell?

  • What does it look like around this time?

03:45 NO SLEEP
(Nina Persson, Peter Svensson)

”The world has surrendered, I’m dating ancient ghosts

The ones I made friends with, the comfort of fireflies long gone before daylight
And if I had one wish fulfilled tonight, I’d ask for the sun to never rise
If God leant his voice to me to speak, I’d say go to bed, world”

EXERCISE / OBJECT WRITING / WHEN
Pick a ”when” from the list or come up with one, then you give yourself 2-5 minutes to write freely using your senses. Try to describe and build a story around your choice of ”when”.
