You have a theme, you have some ideas for lyrics, bur how do we put it all together? Sometimes it can be helpful to look at your concept or theme through a storyline where you map out where things are happening. You don’t need to write a storyline on a paper, you can keep it as a thought in your mind. Think of the song as if it was a movie or a story. You want the content of the theme to move forward, or backwards if that’s the theme. Something you also wanna achieve with this is to make your concept clear and to get more out of the story. It can also help you with a little structure. It’s easy to get stuck in writing the same thing but with different words. If you think of a storyline where things evolve and changes you don’t need to find your self in that situation where you just write the same thing but with different words.

I like to think of it as aiming for songwriting in 3D and to not settle for songwriting in 2D. To do that we also need to think about using our senses and write wider, explore more!
